Former Upper East Regional Minister Tangoba Abayage has berated former appointees of the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration, accusing them of backstabbing the former leader, who gave them opportunities to serve in government.
“I’m appalled at all those formerly employed by Nana Addo who have suddenly decided to throw him under the bus,” she stated.
Her criticism comes after the outgoing Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante suggested she was starved of resources throughout her stay as head of the NFL.
Juliet Asante is not the only former appointee of the former president to voice out concerns about the management of the affairs of the country under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration.
Some including a former Metropolitan Chief Executive for Tamale Iddrisu Musah Superior blamed the former President for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) ousting in the December 7, 2024 elections, accusing President Akufo-Addo of mismanagement and nepotism, which, he said, made the party and its government unpopular ahead of the election.
Juliet’s social media commentary, though did not directly blame the former leader for what she intimated was a set up to fail, adds to the growing criticisms of the Akufo-Addo’s leadership of the country.
But Abayage, in a social media post, called out the former appointees for turning against the man who gave them jobs.
She believes such scathing attacks directed at the former President and his administration are nothing but attempts to paint the erstwhile government bad so as to court favour from the new administration.
“Such miserable hungry cowards. Even before their barns will run dry they are already feeling hungry. SHAMELESS YOU LOT!”
She said although Akufo-Addo had his shortfalls as a leader, the actions some of those who benefited from his leadership smack of betrayal and ingratitude.
“Yes he had his shortfalls, humanness and for those of you he engaged against all counsel, his weaknesses.
You pay him back with blunt stab in the back? Shame on you! Shame on you! Shame on you!”
She added, “We ain’t gonna let this happen”.
