The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communications Director in the Bolgatanga East Constituency of the Upper East Region, Ayinbilla Abubakar Ateere, has praised the party’s 2024 Parliamentary Candidate, Mathew Silas Amoah, for revolutionizing politics in the constituency.

Speaking on Dreamz FM’s Breakfast Today show with James Nana Tsiquaye, Mr. Ateere highlighted that since the constituency’s creation in 2012, no candidate has brought such fierce competition in elections in the area as Mr. Amoah did.

“Mathew changed the face of politics in Bolgatanga East. Nobody can take it away. Since the creation of the Constituency in 2021, Dr. Akuritinga and the NDC has never campaigned the way they did in 2024 because of Mathew Amoah,” Ateere stated.

According to the NPP Communications Director, the 2024 Parliamentary elections became unexpectedly challenging for incumbent MP Dr. Akuritinga Ayine, who managed to retain his seat despite the competitive nature of the NPP candidate’s campaign.

Ateere attributed this intense electoral contest to Amoah’s significant contributions to constituency developmentā€”initiatives he claimed were unprecedented in the area. This, he suggested, created genuine concern for Dr. Ayine about potentially losing his seat.

The Communications Director further asserted that Amoah’s impact compelled Dr. Ayine to invest more resources in community development projects ahead of the 2024 elections than he had done in the past.

While Dr. Ayine ultimately retained his parliamentary seat, Ateere’s comments suggest that Amoah’s candidacy has established a new benchmark for political engagement and development-focused campaigning in the Bolgatanga East Constituency.
