President Mahama hands Lydia Akanvariba the instrument of office

President John Dramani Mahama has tasked the Minister of State in charge of Public Reforms Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba to work to fast-track remodel public services in the country.

Administering the oath of office to her and 13 deputy ministers, President Mahama charged the minister and Member of Parliament for the Tempane Constituency to work under the Special Advisor on Governmental Affairs to achieve speedy and optimal reforms in the public sector.

“For Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, you’d work under the Special Advisor on governmental affairs to achieve speedy and optimal reform in our public services.”

Lydia Akanvariba was sworn in together with 13 deputy ministers.

The deputy ministers include John Dumelo, Deputy Minister of Food and Agricultural; Alhassan Suhuyini, Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways; Clement Apaak, Deputy Minister for Education; Justice Srem-Sai, Deputy Minister for Justice and Attorney-General and Thomas Nyarko Ampem, Deputy Minister of Finannce.

The rest are;

– Ernest Brogya Gyenfi, Deputy Minister for the Defence Ministry

– Sampson Ahi- Deputy Minister, Trade, Agribusiness and Industry

– Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, Deputy Minister for the Interior

– Richard Gyan-Mensah, Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition

– Yusif Sulemana, Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources

– Yussif Issaka Jajah, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts

– Rita Naa Odoley Sowah Local Government, Chieftaincy & Religious Affairs

– Gizella Tettey-Agbotui Works, Housing and Water Resources

President Mahama entreated the Deputy Ministers to work diligently with their minister to execute the mandate of the government, stating that, “I shall hold you to the same standards of accountability, diligence, hard work and sacrifice for Ghana’s collective success”.

He also cautioned them against opulence and arrogance and urged them to instil a sense of urgency in their sectors, reminding them that the administration has only four years to deliver on its promises.

He again instructed to declare their assets within the stipulated period after assuming office.
