President John Dramani Mahama has removed former Member of Parliament for Bongo Constituency Edward Bawa from his position as Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

Edward Bawa has now been reassigned to state-owned oil and gas marketing company GOIL PLC as Group CEO.

Making the announcement on social media, Edward Bawa said his reassignment takes effect immediately.

He explained that his reshuffle is part of the President’s broader emery sector strategy.

“I have been reassigned to GOIL as Group CEO, effective immediately, as part of the President’s broader energy sector strategy,” he stated.

Edward Bawa was among those who were handed appointment letters in less than two weeks of the Mahama administration.

His appointment to head GNPC was announced by the Presidency in a statement dated January 17, 2025.

He has spent less than a month in office as head of GNPC before his reassignment.
