Executive Director of the Northern Patriots Research and Advocacy Bismarck Adongo Ayorogo is hopeful that flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress John Dramani Mahama will fulfil his promises if he is given the mandate.
Mr. Ayorogo said although the former leader failed to address most of the development challenges of the country particularly in the North, he might have, after a soul-searching, turned a new leaf and decided to do things differently.
“I won’t want to hold brief for anybody. He can listen to all this and then when he comes back to power, he can ignore them. It is also possible that he might have learned lessons, sitting back, he might have learned lessons and decide that ‘let me do things differently to leave a legacy for my party, for my people and for my country’”.
The NOPRA Executive Director was speaking on the former president’s recent visit of the Upper East Region as part of his Building Ghana Tour.
Mr. Mahama pledged to undertake as many as 12 infrastructural projects in different parts of the region if he is given the mandate.
He also expressed his readiness to continue and complete all stalled projects.
Speaking in an interview on Dreamz FM yesterday on the politician’s engagement with various groups in the region, Bismarck Ayorogo expressed hope that the NDC flagbearer will fulfil his pledges to the region if he gets to form the next government.
While acknowledging that the engagements to gauge the views of residents could just be a ploy to win votes, he stated that the people of the region must hold the former leader to his in the event that he becomes president again.
“When he wins, we should come together, if there’s demand, surely there’ll be supply. So we should come together and if he won’t come voluntarily, we should call him and we will see the milestone – where have we reached”.
