The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has demanded that before it resumes taking part in Peace FM’s Kokrooko programme, the management, host and production team of Peace FM must meet with leadership and the Communications Bureau of the NDC for a discussion on the concerns of the party regarding the show.

In a letter dated 25th September, 2020 and signed by the party’s General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the NDC said it was thankful that the station wrote a letter, appealing to it for a peaceful resolution to the matter, stressing that the party bore the station no grudges but only had concerns with the Kokrooko show.

The NDC assured the media house that it was committed to continuing to work with it so as to continue to deepen democracy and good governance through public discourse.

“In view of your request, I wish to humbly invite the management of the station, the host and production team of the “kookrooko” show to a meeting with the leadership of the NDC and the National Communications Bureau of the Party, to discuss and amicably resolve the issue of unfair paneling that occasioned our boycott of the show,” they asked of Peace FM.

Background

The NDC boycotted the Kokrooko Show in May this year over concerns of unfair paneling and ‘unacceptable’ conduct of host. The station, however, took the first step towards reconciliation when they wrote a letter to the NDC accepting responsibility for lapses that led to their boycott and appealing to them to reconsider the boycott.
