SACKED PPA BOSS MAKING A POINT ON NET 2 TV

Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, and the disgraced former Public Procurement Authority(PPA) Chief Executive Officer, Adjenim Boateng Adjei have accused award-winning investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni of taking bribes. Mr Adjei accused Mr Azure Awuni of having had an evil agenda against him, which has resulted in his sacking.

Mr Agyapong and Adjenim Adjei tongue-lashed Mr Azure Awuni on November 11, 2020 on Net TV’s The Seat programme, accusing him among others of having taken bribes from Mr Adjenim Boateng multiple times.

Mr Adjei alleged that the investigation conducted by Manasseh on him was deliberately presented in a way to discredit him, stressing that when the full interview is played, people will realize how the documentary was skewed purposefully against him.

“I pray that one day, he will be touched by the Almighty God and play the full interview he had with me to the whole world regarding these issues,” Mr Adjei said.

He then accused CHRAJ of mischief: “I knew from their initial correspondence that CHRAJ was up to mischief after failing to disclose they were in possession of my account details so we could speak specifically to it…They decided to publish same with the statement that I was unable to explain the inflows into my account. This is an affront to my right to defend myself.”

Last year, investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni uncovered that Mr Adjei had set up a company that won government contracts from his then outfit, the PPA, and then sold them to the highest bidder. His findings were contained in a documentary titled Contracts for Sale.

Mr Adjei was suspended by President Akufo-Addo. The President then referred the matter to CHRAJ. CHRAJ recently corroborated the findings of Manasseh Azure Awuni and added among others that Mr Adjei had unexplained wealth. CHRAJ recommended that he be sacked. President Akufo-Addo swiftly sacked him.
