Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke has addressed reports that he has converted to Islam.

Reports of the actor’s conversion to Islam follow pictures of him addressed in Muslim attire which have gone viral on social media.

Jim Iyke is seen in some of the pictures holding “Tasbih” (Islamic Prayer beads) and in others, posing with a man dressed in white believed to be an Islamic cleric.

But reacting to the reports in a video, the actor denied renouncing his Christian faith and converting to Islam.

He indicated that the pictures are from scenes of a movie, which he shot in Ghana, and have been bandied around by people he described as unscrupulous bloggers, creating the impression that he is now a Muslim.

He said, while he respects all other religions in the world, he is committed to the Christian faith and has no intention to ever renounce it and convert to another.

“I feel it is necessary to address certain rumors that have been making the rounds lately. Usually, I don’t pay attention to these aimless rumors because it is not my cup of tea. But certain lines cannot be crossed. I made a movie in Ghana called Zongo Boys which will be out soon. It is a movie about religious fanatics and somebody took the picture from that movie and it ended up in the hands of a rather unscrupulous blogger and he said that I converted from my faith.

While I want to unequivocally say that I respect all regions, I believe in one God, I have no intention now and not ever to convert from my faith. I’m totally committed to my faith. I don’t understand why somebody would want to peddle this rumor. Whoever is peddling this rumor, get it together because these serious are issues,” he stated.
