The parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress for Chiana-Paga Constituency Nikyema Alamzy has dismissed allegations levelled against by the governing New Patriotic Party in the area.
Speaking in an interview on Breakfast News on Dreamz FM, Alamzy described the allegations as baseless orchestrated to distract him from executing his campaign.
He said the NPP and its parliamentary candidate for the area are sensing a heavier defeat in the December Elections reason they have resorted to peddling false accusations against his perosn to make him unpopular.
“After 7th December, you will know why they are crying foul. Those who were there, they are waakye boys and girls of the NPP chairman. They were given directive to tarnish Alamzy image.
It’s pure jealousy and hatred. They have realized that Alamzy is going to set a record in China Paga, they will be beaten with more than 80 percent of the votes. That’s their pain,” he stated.
The governing NPP, at a press conference held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, accused Alamzy of instigating violence during the Independence Day Parade in the Kasena-Nankana District.
Constituency Secretary of the NPP claimed while members of his party were taking their turn to march pass, Mr. Alamzy led his party members who had finished with the activity, to attack them.
He also accused the NDC parliamentary candidate of recruiting and maintaining a vigilante group comprised of foreign nationals, who are terrorising his opponents in the Constituency.
The group known as ‘Save Ghana’, he claimed, has members who are Burkinabe nationals and the NPP fear it could be a conduit for a spill over of insurgent activities from the Sahel region.
But Alamzy, in reaction, dismissed all the allegations as out of hatred and jealousy.
He argued that the group is a local youth group and neither has political affiliation nor foreign nationals as members.
“The Save Ghana group they are talking is not even a political group, they just a youth that are there. Because they’ve been able to convince them to support them, that’s the problem they have. There are NPP guys in the group. It’s not one party,” he stated.
“How will people from Burkinabe Faso be part of Save Ghana group? What would a Burkinabe be doing in a Ghanaian youth base”.
He further refuted the accusation of instigating violence, stating that the scuffle ensued after an NPP member provoked members of his party.
