The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo has renovated a 3-unit classroom block meant for the St. Paul Basic School, widely known as Soe Primary and Junior High School.
The 60-year-old school has very deplorable classroom structures that are also not enough for the growing population of the school.
Due to the inadequacy of the classrooms for learners, school authorities have been compelled to convert a structure built to serve as ICT laboratory into a classroom.
The decision of Mr. Adongo to renovate the 3-unit- classroom block, therefore, becomes a major boost in the efforts to provide quality education in the school and the community.
Speaking during the handing over of the rehabilitated facility, Mr. Adongo explained that the rehabilitation came about following an invitation extended to him to be part of the school’s 60th anniversary last year.
Though he could not attend the function, he was briefed about the challenges of the school hence, his decision to renovate the structure. He also disclosed that two other schools, Umaraih, and the 37 December Primary Schools have equally been completed for use.
He expressed satisfaction about the projects adding, a KG block and others are also being worked on.
Mr. Adongo called for the proper utilization of the structure to raise more distinguished leaders for the constituency.
The two-term MP further assured the school authorities of his readiness to complete a new block started by the community, which is still at the foundation level.
“I was briefed about the plight of this school after the school’s 60th anniversary, which I could not attend and that is the genesis of this project. I had several requests including the 37 December Primary School and Umaria Primary School were all awarded and have had this one and the 37 handed over. I am aware the Umariah school block is almost completed.
I want to assure you that I will take up the construction of the block that was started by the community. I am hoping that the school authorities will put this structure into good use and that we will have more Isaac Adongos from this area,” he emphasized.
Headteacher of the Soe Primary, Micheal Ayinbisa, applauded the MP for the renovation of the block and his assurance that the structure at foundation level will be completed.
