The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo has accused the Municipal Chief Executive for Bolgatanga and the Municipal Assembly of sabotaging his efforts to execute various projects for members of the constituency with barely a month to the elections.

Speaking in an interview with Dreamz News as part of a magazine program dubbed Constituency highlight, Mr. Adongo took on the Rex Asanga led Assembly for what he says is a deliberate to thwart the award of projects for the utilization of the MP’s fund.

“A dam that had been broken for three years right behind the house Rex Asanga. I went there and provided initial relief, got equipment there and started dredging and I sent a letter that I want them to contract a contractor to go and complete it so that they can get potable water,” he stated.

“Today, I can’t even find any response from those requests and these are my share, not just my share of the common fund, but my role as a leader in parliament and as a ranking member of parliament has enabled me to attract into this constituency two million Ghana cedis in six months and I’ve issued letters for those monies to be deployed to support my people and those monies, they are not willing to contract the people to do that”.

The two-term lawmaker, who is seeking a third term in office, is in the race with Elvis Atia Awonekai of the New Patriotic Party and Peter Akunlibe of the People’s National Convention, PNC.

In the history of the constituency, no Member of Parliament has been maintained for a third consecutive third term.

It is on this score Mr. Adongo suspects his projects are being hampered to give his opponent an advantage in the race.

“Clearly, he’s sabotaging me. So the people should suffer because you want power, okay, and there’s no way you would win this seat. There’s no way”.

Responding to the comments, Rex Asanga, the Municipal Chief Executive for Bolgatanga, denied the allegations of sabotaging the MP’s efforts.

“We will never sabotage him, as long as he’s going to do projects that are going to benefit our community.”

Mr. Asanga questions why the lawmaker never had any complain for the past four years.

The MCE explains that the MP recently awarded some projects before seeking approval from the assembly which is against the procurement laws.

“You already have awarded a contract to somebody, the person goes to start the work. So our technical people said no. He already has somebody who is working on it.”

He added, “So they will not compromise their professional integrity and do something that in future they cannot answer for”.
