Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, Member of Parliament for the Ketu South constituency has decried what he describes as hypocrisy over the seeming lack of condemnation for what the NDC has described as unimaginable levels of corruption under the Nana Addo led administration.
Addressing a news conference in Accra, the NDC MP while citing alleged corruption scandals including Agyapa, PDS, PPA among others said there is a lot of hypocrisy in condemning corruption in the country.
He pointed out that all hell would have broken lose if former President John Dramani Mahama was allegedly caught on tape taking bribe.
“Can you imagine if President Rawlings were caught on tape receiving $40,000 in bribes? Can you imagine what would happen in this country? Can you imagine if President Mahama was caught on tape receiving a $40,000 bribe? But that’s what we have with Mr. Incorruptiblilty” he said.
In a near sobbing mood, Mr. Fiifi Kwetey described the incorruptibility tag of President Akufo Addo as mere white washing of grapes.
“Agyapa deal, the PDS scandal and a series of scandals that we’ve talked over and over about. The PPA scandal that people like Manneseh Azure Awuni have brought out, all the uncovering that was done by Anas and the rest, all these are simply evidence that every single one of those have been true. What it is that we have had is a massive cover up, a lot of deception, a lot of pretense, a lot of looking like white washed grapes behind nothing but corruption degeneration embellished nicely with double talk and hypocrisy,” he cried out.
The opposition National Democratic Congress has widely publicized a video which captured President Nana Akufo Addo receiving a brown envelope from some persons. This has however been discredited by the New Patriotic Party and government who say the offer was a campaign donation which was being made to the then presidential candidate of the NPP.
In the video documentary purportedly produced by The Salis Newspaper, one Alhaji Abass Awolu is alleged to have sent a delegation led by Dr. Agyei Bawuah to the Nima residence of the president to influence him with a bribe of $40,000 not to dismiss him as Director of Urban Roads.
Among the delegation is a man and a woman introduced as brother and wife of Alhaji Abass respectively.
In the video documentary, a voice purported to be that of brother of Alhaji Abass is heard pleading with the president to disregard allegations leveled against his brother stressing that such allegations are plots by his detractors to dent his image and eventually ensure his dismissal from office as the Director of Urban Roads.
Afterwards, the president is seen receiving a hefty brown envelope which the narration claimed is $40,000. The voice purported to be brother of Alhaji Abass is heard explaining that the money is from Alhaji Abass who has been advised to take that step or risk being fired.
However, another video which involves same personalities and scenes but without the narration as contained in the documentary video has surfaced. The video, which the NPP claimed is the original video, suggest that the alleged bribe was a donation towards the 2016 campaign of president Akufo-Addo.
