Joel Atinga Nsobila, who is set to attempt a Guinness World Record in Accra, excited about James Kumbeni’s cycling journey to the national capital to support his attempt.
Speaking in an interview on Breakfast News on Dreamz FM, Atinga described James’ odyssey as remarkable and said he is looking forward to welcoming him in Accra.
“It’s very remarkable. It’s something he is actually going to educate Ghanaians on and as a way to support me. And I’m really proud of it and I hope to meet him here in Accra. I wish him all the best as he began his journey and I pray that God will bring him here safely so that we can have a joyful celebration here in Accra,” Atinga said.
James Kumbeni has embarked on audacious journey, circling 815 kilometers from Bolgatanga, capital of the Upper East Region to the national capital Accra.
He set off on Monday, April 8 and has done over 200 kilometres.
His trip is purposely to create awareness about climate change and advocate the use of environmentally friendly means of transport like bicycle for intra-city and town movements.
He is of the firm belief that using bicycles as an alternative means of transport for intra-city or town movements will help reduce carbon emission in furtherance of measures to tackle climate change.
His 815km journey also seeks to Garner support for Atinga’s Guinness World Record attempt.
This would not be the first time James is cycling long distance to throw his support behind such activity.
He rode 170 kilometers from Bolgatanga to Tamale in the Northern Region in January this year to support Faila Abdul-Razak, who attempted the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
