Filson Awankua, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region says he will file to contest the regional chairmanship of the party in the upcoming internal elections.
Awankua made two attempts for the top regional leadership position in 2018 and 2022 but did not succeed in both occasions.
In the 2018 contest, he placed second to the current Regional Anthony Namoo but fell to the third position in 2022.
However, Awankua believes he still stands a chance of winning and is the most suitable candidate to restore the party’s fortunes in the region.
Speaking in an April 17 interview on State of Our Nation on Dreamz FM, he stated, “We are lacing our boots. When they open nominations, I’ll pick a form and contest again”.
