District Chief Executive for Bolgatanga East Agana Albert Akugre says he is currently concentrating on his job as the administrative head of the area and not involved in partisan politics.
Mr. Agana Albert stated that he has a lot on his table that he is attending to and thus, is pressed for time to be engaged in political activities.
“I have just gone to the office for barely two months. There are a lot of things in the office that I concentrate on now, there are a lot of things that I need to do now, there a lot of errands that I run and for now, I need to master whatever is in my office,” he said.
“For now, I have not been involved in any politics and must be frank about that. Because of the burden in my office, the heavy schedules”.
He said this in response to whether he has started campaigning for the election of the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for the area in the December polls.
While indicating his membership of the NPP, the DCE said his position requires that he work with every resident for the development of the area hence, he does not fancy being partisan in his dealings.
He, however, hinted that he may be joining the political train later probably when the workload at his office had been lessened.
When asked whether the NPP’s parliamentary candidate stands a chance of winning the elections, Mr. Agana said, “It’s the people of Bolga East that will decide who will be the next MP for Bolga East. It’s not up to me to decide whom Bolga East people should vote for”.
He also failed to assess the performance of the current Member of Parliament for the constituency Dr. Dominic Ayine, stating that he would be engaging in partisanship if he did that.
Mr. Agana, however, praised Mathew Silas Amoah for initiating numerous development projects despite not holding any public office.
