Tamale-based musician, Fancy Gadam has said he is confident that Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP’s government will fulfill their promise of building ultramodern music recording studios in Tamale and some other parts of the country.

The NPP, in its 2020 manifesto, pledged to build state-of-the-art recording studios in some selected cities in the country including Tamale, Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi and Tema as part of plans to propel the growth of the music industry.

The aim of the planned projects, the party had explained, was to offer the needed opportunity and logistical support to young and talented artistes to build their chosen music careers.

Vice President, Dr. Bawumia, while on a campaign tour of the Northern Region in September 2020, disclosed that the decision to build the studios was arrived at following a proposal by Fancy Gadam.

Speaking on the issue in an interview on Accra-based Hitz FM on Thursday, August 8, 2021, the ‘Total Cheat’ hitmaker said he is certain that the Vice President will see to the building of the studios. He disclosed that he had had a phone conversation with Dr. Bawumia about 2 weeks ago and he assured him that processes are ongoing for the construction of the projects.

He said, although residents of Northern Ghana including himself will be disappointed if the planned projects do not come to fruition, he has no cause to doubt the words of the Vice President.

“I spoke with him (Dr. Bawumia) last 2 weeks about it (the promise). He assured me that processes are ongoing to build the ultramodern studio. For him to call me and talk to me about it gives me 100 percent assurance that it will be built. But my people and I will be disappointed if it is not built,” he stated.

Fancy Gadam added “I suggested couple of things (aside the studios that are needed to boost the music industry) but they (the government) have decided to start with the recording studio. I mentioned an auditorium to him so that we can hold concert there because we don’t have any auditorium in the North”.
