Communications Minister Ursula Owusu has said she would have shot at persons who attacked her if she had a gun on her during an incident that occurred in 2012.
In an obvious defence of the shooting action of Madam Mavis Hawa Koomson, MP and Minister for Special Development Initiatives at a voter registration centre in Kasoa, Ms. Ursula Owusu recounted a similar situation she encountered in April 2012.
“I stand with Hawa Koomson. If I had a gun on me in April 2012 when NDC sponsored thugs attacked me in Odododiodio, I would have shot them to protect myself. I didn’t and the rest is history,” she tweeted with a photo of her in a bandage around her head.
She continued that “She had the right to protect herself if she felt threatened.”
The Minister for Special Development Initiatives who doubles as Member of Parliament for Ewutu Senya East in the Central region has been heavily criticised for firing a shot at a registration centre.
Though there have been calls for her to be sacked from office as minister, the New Patriotic Party has vehemently kicked against the calls and justified her action as self defence.
Meanwhile, the police CID have invited the MP and retrieved her gun.
