SAMSON LARDI ANYENINI- PRIVATE LEGAL PRACTITIONER

Private Legal practitioner and host of news analysis show, Newsfile, Sampson Lard Anyenini has disclosed that he was nominated for the Global Public Excellence Awards, the award scheme which organized the purported “UN Kofi Annan Excellence Awards”.

In a Facebook post, Sampson Lardi Anyenini stated that he had doubts about the credibility of the award scheme following his nomination for 2019 edition of the award. He admitted that the award scheme seemed credible after he made inquiries into the credibility of the scheme.

Mr. Lardi Anyenini was nominated to be honored as the ‘Face of the Globe – Law Practice and Broadcasting (Nation Building)’ category in the 2019 edition of the Global Excellence Awards, an award scheme organized by Kwame Owusu Forjour, the man behind the now infamous UN Global Blueprint Excellence Awards.

“Pray – The 2019 nomination came. I have a posture to awards, generally. But this one I doubted to a degree and started an inquiry. Truth is, it is believable,” he stated.

The Global Blueprint Excellence Awards was held on Friday, August, 2020 in Accra at the Alisa Hotel allegedly in collaboration with the UN and in honor of Former UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan. Top Ghanaian personalities including politicians, musicians, media personalities, academics among others were honored with a purported ‘UN Kofi Annan Excellence Awards’ at the event.

Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Antwi Boasiako AKA Chairman Wontumi, Sarkodie, Berla Mundi, Vice-Chancellor of University of Ghana; Professor Ebenezer Oduro among others were the personalities honored.

The credibility of the award scheme has however been questioned after it emerged that the United Nation (UN) has neither collaborated with the scheme nor sanctioned the awards.

The initiator of the award scheme, Kwame Owusu Fordjour who calls himself a doctor has been criticized by large section of the public, who described the award as fake and a monumental scam, for using the name of UN and former Secretary-General, Kofi Annan to make his award scheme appear credible.

Mr. Forjour, however, debunked allegations that the award scheme is a scam insisting that it is credible since he is a development and excellent leadership advocate.

But reacting to the development which is trending on social media, Mr. Anyenini admonished award organizers to desist from going to any length to attach themselves to prestigious institutions for credibility stating that they do not need such institutions to organize awards in recognition of people’s achievements.

“But guys ought to know they don’t need all the clout to mobilise a faculty to recognise or celebrate people. Nothing wrong being local authentic awards initiative,” he stated.
