The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communications Director in the Bolgatanga East Constituency of the Upper East Region, Ayinbilla Abubakari Ateere has expressed profound disappointment over Mathew Silas Amoah’s defeat in the 2024 Parliamentary elections while voicing hope for his return in 2028.

Speaking on Dreamz FM’s Breakfast Today show with James Nana Tsiquaye, Ateere revealed his personal dismay at Amoah’s electoral loss despite the candidate’s transformative impact on local politics.

According to the NPP Communications Director, the 2024 Parliamentary elections became unexpectedly competitive for incumbent MP Dr. Akuritinga Ayine precisely because of Amoah’s strong showing and development-focused campaign.

Ateere highlighted that Amoah had supported constituency development in unprecedented ways, which he believes put genuine pressure on Dr. Ayine and compelled the NDC MP to invest more resources in community projects than he had done since first taking office in 2012.

Despite these efforts, Amoah ultimately lost to Dr. Ayine, leaving Ateere visibly disheartened but still optimistic about future prospects.

“Why won’t I urge him to come back to contest the seat in 2028? I will be ever ready to call for his come back, if only he is strong and healthy,” Ateere stated emphatically, underscoring his belief in Amoah’s potential to succeed in future electoral contest.
