Former Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo Mensah (rtd) has expressed worry about the future of Ghana in relation to making life meaningful for its citizens.
The former Military Leader has said the current state of affairs in Ghana and its management by the two major political parties raises issues of a bleak future particularly for the youth of the country.
According to him, there are so many problems that seem not to be tackled when people are in power but “they are in power to manage their own business and Ghana is almost burning”.
Announcing his decision to join the Ghana Union Movement, a newly formed political party founded by a Christian Leader Rev. Christian Andrew, Brigadier Nunoo Mensah said “When you walk on our streets and see a lot of young people who are hopeless; you see chaos and I ask myself what is the future of these people. I’m 83, 84 and I won’t be here for too long. When I look into the future in a crystal ball I see only hell and so I say what is going to happen to Ghana when I’m gone,” he said on Accra based Joy fm monitored by dreamzfmonline.com.
The former Security Adviser to late President Mills explained that his decision to join the new and relatively unpopular party is because the governing New Patriotic Party and the Opposition National Democratic Congress have not given him reasons to believe in their positive vision for the country.
In his assertion, the debate about achievements by the two main parties is really not putting the country on the path of progress but rather “they are blowing hot air”.
The Ghana Union Movement which received its certificate on September 24, 2019 from the Electoral Commission says it is hoping to unseat the New Patriotic Party in the December polls.
