National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Bolgatanga East Constituency, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has reiterated his abhorrence for the politics of vandalism, stressing that he disaproves of and distances himself from allegations that some of his supporters have disfigured campaign billboards of his main opponent – the parliamentary candidate for the constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party(NPP).
Dr Ayine, who is the incumbent MP, noted that his work in the Constituency and his message stand him in good stead to win the seat again, adding that political vandalism can’t win him the seat.
Dr Ayine’s is confident that he will triumph over his ‘archrival’, the NPP’s Rev. Dr Emmanuel Abugre Abole, the sitting District Chief Executive(DCE) for the Bolgatanga East District.
Reports abound in the constituency that hoodlums reportedly sympathetic to the opposition NDC have been allegedly vandalising billboards of Rev. Abole so as to promote Dr Ayine’s campaign.
But Dr Ayine has condemned the alleged vandalism, insisting that he does not in any way support such ways of politicking.
Read statement of Dr Ayine below:
“My attention has been drawn to the photo below, an NPP billboard in my constituency that has been vandalized.
I am informed that within NPP circles, the allegation is that this is the work of the NDC or its foot soldiers. I wish to distance myself from such acts of political vandalism.
I have always made it clear that I don’t subscribe to the brand of politics that seeks the destruction of political opponents or their property.
Disfiguring the image of my opponent is not what will win me the election. It is my message and the work I have done so far that would.”
