Louis Lamis, who starred as judge in the popular comic series Kejetia Verse Makola, is in the Upper East Region to premiere his latest movie in Bolgatanga at Tap Hotel.

But the reason for deciding to premiere the movie entitled Banana and Melon is not just to recoup the resources invested and to make profit.

It is part of an agenda to make the region lively and make it a centre of entertainment.

Explaining why he has taken it upon himself to lead an agenda to open up the Upper East Region to entertainment activities, Louis Lamis said he noticed when he visited there 2 years ago for his father’s funeral that there were no such activities, making the place dull.

As a result, many from other places who are working in the region frequently visit their home regions to have fun, a situation, he vowed, must change.

It is for this reason that he decided that he would screen any movie his outfit produces in the region as part of measures to open the place up for entertainment.

Louis Lamis said this in an interview on Dreamz FM ahead the movie premiere on December 23, 2023.

“I was here to bury my Dad 2 years ago. Around this same time. After the burial, I wanted to stay and spend some time. I realized that entertainment in the area was a bit low. So I met a few people I spoke to. When I talked to them, they say ‘oh, I am from Tamale, Weekend, I will go to my family in Tamale.

I’m from Wa, weekend, I will go’. This person says ‘I’m from Kumasi’. They have not brought their families because this place is a bit dry on entertainment. They rather keep their families back home,” he stated.

“I said, no. We need to  change the story. So the little I do in the south, I will be bringing gradually until we build something solid here and so the little do in the south, so now it’s a promise that anything I do, I will come and activate it also here”.
