The Upper East Regional Secretariat of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has released a list of applicants shortlisted for the positions of Municipal and District Chief Executive  of the various assemblies in the region.

Three applicants have been shortlisted for each of the 15 assemblies, a statement from the Secretariat indicated.

About 150 applicants had applied for the positions in the various assemblies in the Upper East Region after President John Dramani Mahama fired MMDCEs appointed by former President Akufo-Addo.

The applicants were vetted and the number trimmed down by regional leadership of the governing party.

The shortlisted applicants have been scheduled to be screened by a committee in Accra. The vetting at the national level will begin on March 19, 2025 and will be done in batches, according to the statement signed by the Regional Secretary of the NDC, Donatus Akamugri.

The first batch includes applicants for Bawku Municipal, Bawku West, Binduri Bolgatanga East and Bolgatanga Municipal District assemblies.

The schedule for the rest of the batches, the statement said, will communicated in due time.
