Social media users have reacted with doubt to news that Kennedy Agyapong, Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) failed to appear in court due to complications arising from COVID-19.

Lawyers for Kennedy Agyapong, who is facing contempt charges, explained to the High Court today that he was not in court due to post-COVID-19 complications.

The lawyers then requested the case be adjourned for two weeks to enable their client fully recover. The judge granted the request but demanded that doctors of Mr Agyapong appear in court to explain and give further details on his complications.

Mr Agyapong contracted COVID-19 some months ago but recovered. His lawyers however explained that the post COVID-19 complications recurred last Friday after Kennedy Agyapong’s appearance in court.

Far from people genuinely praying for him to recover, Mr Agyapong and his legal representation are being accused of engaging in “legal gymnastics” by faking the sickness of the legislator.

They argue that they are engaged in schemes to delay the process of Kennedy Agyapong getting justice.

“This world errrrrhhhh. Today, Kennedy Agyapong is the one pretending to be sick to escape a contempt case. Kennedy Agyapong, how long are you going to FAKE sickness?” Yayra Koku wrote.
