BOLGA-SOE COMMUNITYY EMERGED CHAMPIONS OF THE TOURNAMENT

Bolga-soe community on Sunday 15th August, 2021 were crowned champions of the Happy Man Plus 1 Sala Gala after beating Bolga-Estates 3-1 at the Mobile Astro turf in Bolgatanga.

The competition started on 21st July, 2021, involving 16 Communities in the Bolgatanga Municipality with a knockout phase where winners progressed to the quarter finals, semi-finals and finals.

Participating Teams Included, Dapoore-Tindongo, Majeema, Bolga-Estate, Tanzui, Tindongmolgo, D-Line, Bukere, Olicoco, Sherigu-Dongo, Zongo, Tindonsobligo, Kotokoli-Zongo, Atulbabissi, Dagbweo, Zaare and Bolga-Soe.

High scoring Bolga-Soe community eased through to the finals, beating Kotokoli-Zongo 2-5 in the semi-finals to book a final spot with Bolga- Estates who also progressed to the finals after beating Bukere 3-2 on penalties.

Team captain of Bolga-Soe community, Paul Abanga received the Goal king Award, having scored nine goals in the competition, and was also adjudged the best player.

Bolga-Soe community, winners of the maiden edition of the Happy Man Plus One Sala Gala 2021, took home a Trophy, a set of Jersey, 25 Gold medals and a cash prize of GH₵2,000.00.

Runners up, Bolga Estates also took home 25 silver medals, a set of jersey and a cash prize of GH₵1,000.00.

The 3rd and 4th place match between Bukere and Kotokoli-Zongo ended 1-1 pen. 4-2 in favor of Bukere.

Bukere community who emerged third also received 25 bronze medals and a cash prize of GH₵500.00.

The gala attracted notable players in Ghana football playing for their communities including the likes of Paul Abanga of relegated Inter Allies who played for Soe community and Shadrack Adombila, winner of Rexona next champion who represented Ghana in the Africa 11 team that played against Chelsea FC in England also playing for Kotokoli-Zongo

Notable personalities who graced the occasion included the Upper East Regional Football Association Chairman Alhaji Salifu Shaibu Zida, the CEO of Charger Limited, Dr. Emmanuel Bortey Borketey, and Bolgatanga Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Isaac Adongo.
