The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana’s Buffer Stock Company Hanan Abdul-Wahab has failed to win the Pusiga Constituency seat for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Hanan Abdul-Wahab garnered 15,798 of the valid votes to trail Laadi Ayii Ayamba, who has been re-elected.
Laadi Ayamba obtained 19,557 of the valid votes to retain the seat while Anaba Simon Paul of the All People’s Congress (APC) polled 338 votes.
The NPP contested the results of the last parliamentary election there and filed a lawsuit in court, seeking to overturn the outcome that saw Laadi Ayamba win the seat with the difference of just 63 votes over Abdul-Karim Zanni Dubiure of the NPP.
Although the court was yet to determine the suit challenging the election of Laadi, the NPP went ahead and replaced Abdul-Karim with the CEO of the Buffer Stock Company, whom it believed, was the best bet to snatch the seat for it.
The Buffer Stock Company’s CEO has, however, failed to maintain the party’s 2020 momentum as he lost the election by 3,759 votes difference.
