The Jospong Group of Companies, owners of Metro TV are allegedly under pressure to dismiss their new employee, Bridget Otoo.
According to reports, the Akufo-Addo’s government is unhappy about the decision of Metro TV to employ Ms. Otoo who is a known sympathizer of the NDC and critical of the government and thus, is piling pressure on owners of the television station to dismiss her.
Making the allegation on social media, leading members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), including former Deputy Minister of Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu condemned the government, describing it as intolerant and tyrannical.
The broadcast journalist has since been dismissed, according to unconfirmed reports.
Bridget Otoo joined Metro TV on Monday, August 2, 2021 after years of being off the TV screens.
Ms. Otoo had worked with TV3, a subsidiary of Media General where she hosted various shows including the station’s flagship morning show, New Day. She, however, left her job at the TV station after she was suspended over acts of indiscipline in 2016.
