Students and management of the Bawku Senior High School in the Upper East Region have expressed profound gratitude to COP Patrick Akolgo (retired) and leadership of the Bawku Old Students Association for ending a perennial water crisis in the school.

According to the Students and management, the drilling and mechanization of boreholes has brought sufficient relief as students now have access to clean water for their activities and welfare.

It has emerged that access to water has been one of the major challenges the Bawku Secondary School has faced over the years with an increased number of students relying on limited sources of water in the school.

“After class, we are supposed to be relaxing but we use that time struggling to get water. Now we can have our rest and all we can say is that May God COP Patrick Akolgo and the National President [Bawku Old Students Association]. It has been a very big problem facing the school since 1967 till date. As I speak to you now, we have water flowing in abundance and students are fetching with problem,” Abugri Sampson, Students Representative Council President said.

Having attended the Bawku Senior High School where he rose to the position of Senior Prefect, COP Patrick Akolgo returned to teach in the school for two years under national service.

In a brief remark, he noted that the decision to provide mechanized boreholes for the school forms part of his desire to give back to his Alma mater to improve the quality of lives of the students.

It will be recalled that the former Director General of National Police Patrol Directorate was honored by the Bawku Old Students Association (BOSA) at the 3rd Home Coming of the association in November 2021 for his continuous support to the school which includes reshaping of roads on the school campus amongst others
