Nutritionist Paul Akapanga has touted local dish, Gari, oil, beans, fried plantain and egg popularly known as Gob3 as very nutritious.

According to the nutritionist, Gob3 contains all the major nutrients required in the body and thus, make for a balanced diet when consumed.

He said contrary to public’s view of it as being low in quality and a meal for the poor, it is high in nutrients and should be a go-to meal for everyone.

“It is well balanced and it’s not for the poor. If you take Gob3 up to the soup ladle, that’s completely a balanced diet for you,” he stated.

Following hikes in prices of foodstuff, many especially those who barely make a living have sought solace in Gob3 in order to cope with the situation.

The youth especially who have had to skip meals often rely on it as it sustains them for several hours.

As a result, it has gained reputation as a meal for the less privileged.

But speaking in an interview on Dreamz FM’s Breakfast Today on Thursday, Paul Akapanga said it is one of the very nutritious dishes and should be eaten by all not just those facing financial difficulties.

“Gob3 is one of the best meals that is completely balanced. We have the carbohydrate, we have the minerals, we have the vitamins, all inside and have the fats and oil and then we have water which is also a nutrient and when you finish, you now start to drink water and that’s extra nutrient. If you go to the 6 groups of nutrients, we have everything in Gob3”.
