Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress in the Upper East Region, Abdallah Jonathan Salifu has taken on Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for asking Ghanaians to reject the NDC’s presidential candidate in the upcoming elections.
At an engagement with youth in the Upper East Region during his recent tour of the region, Dr. Bawumia, who is seeking to succeed his boss as president on the governing party’s ticket, entreated voters to reject John Dramani Mahama of the NDC because he (Mahama) will not account for stewardship.
This, he said, is because Mr. Mahama is eligible for only a term in office and may likely not account for his handling of the country’s affairs since he will not be seeking re-election after serving another term in office.
He, therefore, called on the electorates to reject the former president and elect him as he will be held accountable if he seeks re-election.
But reacting in an interview on Breakfast News on Dreamz FM, Abdallah described the Vice-President’s assertion as ridiculous.
“Don’t you know presidents are votes and given 4 years? MPs are voted for 4 years? So what kind of warped knowledge is that?”
He added that Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated to be incapable of leading the country and thus, Ghanaians will not risk entrusting its affairs to him.
“Constitutionally, you can’t go beyond 4 years. He will not even get the 4 years to do neither to talk of looking for another tenure. That I can assure you” .
