In 2023, it was observed that young people between 20 and 49 years form nearly 77% of individuals leaving the shores of Ghana in search of greener pastures.

The data from the Thematic report on migration revealed that many Ghanaian immigrants left the country for better job prospects or due to education.

It identified that 37% left to Europe and 23.7% ended up in the Americas.

Speaking Monday on the State of Our Nation, the President of the Student’s Representative Council of the Bolgatanga Technical University, Abdulai Anabila Seidu, noted that the country is gradually failing the youth hence the mass exodus.

According to him, with little politicization, the country can utilize the available resources to ensure the country is developed.

“The country is failing the young people drastically that’s what is pushing them to go in search of greener pastures. I think if things are not overly politicized and ensure that the youth needs are meant adequately, I don’t think there wouldn’t be the need travelling out of the country,” he stated.
