KEVIN TAYLOR

Journalist and relentless critic of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, Kevin Taylor has mocked NPP stalwart, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, with a cheque of US$ 1 million issued to him as damages for defaming him.

A High Court has ruled that Mr Kevin Taylor defamed Gabby Otchere-Darko with his false statement on the involvement of Mr Otchere-Darko in the controversial PDS deal. He had alleged that Mr Otchere-Darko had benefited financially in the deal by acting as legal consultant through his law firm.

But the court agreed with Gabby Otchere-Darko that he had been defamed by the comments and awarded damages of GHC 1 million against Mr Kevin Taylor.

In reaction, Mr Taylor first argued that he was not properly served by the Court on the case. He wondered how DHL, a courier company could be a bailiff of the High Court, stressing that lawyers for Mr Otchere-Darko had taken legal fees for zero work done since the judgement, for him, is inconsequential.

Now though, he has issued a cheque in jest to Mr Otchere-Darko as settlement for the damages awarded against him.

Mr Taylor, who is based in the US, has been sued by several Ghanaians for allegedly making defamatory comments against them in his broadcasts on social media.

Famed lawyer, Ace Anan Ankomah has won a defamatory suit against him.

Notwithstanding the several cases against him, Mr Taylor is unwavering in his caustic criticism of the NPP administration and supporters of it, known or perceived.
