If you’re a social media user in the Upper East Region, you may be familiar with the tagline “Bolga be small town” and the face behind.
But Gunu Mubarak better known by his stage name Mubinky did not set out as a comic actor.
Although he cracked people up during his Senior High School days, charting a career path in comedy was inconceivable.
Mubinky said he grew spending time with his brother, who had a great sense of humor, and watching comic movies.
Little did he know that he had unconsciously imbibed in him the rudiments of comic acting and aroused an innate talent that would propel him to stardom – at least in the Upper East Region.
While in school, Mubinky said one of his teachers took notice of his talent and recommended him to be billed for shows.
Although he delivered on those stages, he was at a loss as to how to brand himself and venture into mainstream comedy.
So after graduating from SHS, Mubinky started autorickshaw operation to keep body and soul together.
However, a short comical video he recorded of himself while plying his commercial transport business trended and set the stage for his shot to fame.
Speaking in an interview on Breakfast Today on Dreamz FM, the actor said, “In terms of numbers, I would say I’m growing but when it comes to the content itself, I’m grown”.
