The Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has inaugurated a 10-man committee chaired by a former Education Minister Professor Domonic Fobih to lead deliberations and subsequently advice government on the reopening of Pre-tertiary schools in the country.

The President in March this year closed all schools and Universities and suspended public events to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The president has since begun easing the restrictions, allowing final Year University, Senior High School and Junior High School students to return to school to write their final exams.

In his 15th address on measures taken to combat the spread of the virus, the President stressed that the country was doing well in containing the spread of the virus and further announced the return of continuing students in public tertiary Institutions who could not complete the academic year online to return to school from August 24, 2020 while announcing that deliberations were ongoing to reopen Pre-tertiary institutions.

But in a Press Release signed by Press Secretary to the Education Minister, Rodney Nkrumah- Boateng, the ministry announced that a 10-member committee chaired by Prof. Dominic Fobih, a Former Minister of Education and current Chairman of the GETFUND Board of trustees will advise government on the reopening of schools in a safe and friendly manner.
