First-year students of Zamse Senior High Technical School, (ZAMSTECH) in the Bolgatanga Municipality in the Upper East Region are compelled to occupy uncompleted blocks without without furniture.
The students, who recently reported to school, are occupying a block that was started as part of the emergency projects but has since not been completed.
Dreamz News gathers that the challenge with infrastructure compelled authorities to utilize the structure despite its current state. Unfortunately, students are found sitting on blocks or merely leaning on walls due to the unavailability of furniture.
The situation in the school is contrary to the school’s mission to be “A citadel of knowledge and serene environment producing high quality educated students for their future endeavors”
This mission is definitely under threat as the classroom situation coupled with the unavailability of furniture defeats the desire to render quality education in the school.
Checks by Dreamz News on the blind side of school authorities and teachers reveal that some students sit on blocks. A situation that they did not expect to be greeted with as they set out to experience secondary education.
This comes at a time when there are calls for the government to increase and intensify efforts aimed at addressing challenges with accommodation, classroom infrastructure, and furniture challenges in many public secondary schools following increased enrollment in recent times.
