Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency Isaac Adongo has asserted that he is miles ahead of his contender in the 2024 elections, Elvis Atia Awonekai.
The lawmaker, who is seeking re-election in the upcoming December polls, said this in response to Elvis Awonekai’s comment that he (the MP) gets anxious at the mentioning of his name.
Addressing supporters at Jubilee Park in Bolgatanga during Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s visit to the constituency in July, the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate said his campaign activities in the area had thrown off balance Isaac Adongo, who was initially unbothered about his (Awonekai’s) activities.
As a result, the MP, who used to dine and wine in Accra seemingly confident of retaining the seat, was now forced to frequent the constituency in an attempt to revive his chances in the polls, he had told a cheering crowd supporters of NPP.
But responding to this after filing his nomination on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Isaac Adongo intimidated that he cannot be bothered about the NPP candidate’s efforts to unseat him.
According to him, apart from his enviable record as the people’s representative, he is more accomplished in life and thus, the people of Bolgatanga Central Constituency find in him (Isaac Adongo) a better representative than his contender.
“I fear because of what? Is it that the school, he went more than me? Of course, he has done well. If you read DBS at Botech, you end up with… We are not talking University of Ghana. We are not talking University of Cape Coast, UDS and you try and go to Garden City You’ve done well,” he stated.
“If I appear before those children, they see me as a better representation of themselves. They would like to be with me. Because they have something to say that I want to grow and be like Adongo”.
“You would want to grow and be like what? Be an an accounts clerk in a hospital facility like Aninga Zanga. He (Awonekai) would tell you, ‘I’m the head of finance’ Garu, you go there, it is Aninga Zanga. I left those check writing in 2001,” added.
