Former President John Mahama has pledged to run a 24-hour economy which will significantly create new jobs if he is elected president again in the upcoming general elections.
He made the point Wednesday, October, 7 2020, during the launch of the NDC’s virtual campaign in Sefwi Wiawso in the Western North Region.
He noted that his administration will work to change “…our economy into a 24-hour economy with factories and businesses working 24 hours a day, every day,” adding that an economy that runs 24 hours every day will help help in the creation of decent jobs with decent salaries and will allow people to live a dignified life.
The former President added that he is committed to implementing the NDC’s promise to provide one million jobs in four years if they emerge victorious in this year’s election.
For him the NDC’s 2020 manifesto, dubbed the People’s manifesto, will inspire hope yet again in Ghanaians since it meets the demands and aspirations of the people.
As part of his campaign tour of the Western North Region, he will engage people on a personal basis rather than in rallies because of the threat posed by the novel coronavirus disease.
This year’s presidential election is the first time in the Fourth Republic that a former President is coming face to face with a sitting President. John Mahama beat Nana Akufo-Addo in 2012 while Nana Akufo-Addo beat him in 2016; whoever wins the 2020 election will leave the other with no chance to seek to undo the defeat since they will both be barred constitutionally from competing again.
