Newly crowned Artiste of the Year at the just ended 2023 Upper East Music Awards Fasetwo has defended his win of the coveted award.
Speaking in an interview on Breakfast News on Dreamz FM, Fasetwo said he worked hard and had been outstanding in the year under review, thus deserve the ultimate award.
Some have questioned the criteria used in determining winners of the award scheme as they say it results in winners not being determined based on merits but on the amount of resources they pump into garnering votes.
But the musician argued that his exceptional work in the year under review merits the ultimate award regardless of the criteria used in determining the winner.
“Anybody who really knows about entertainment in the region should know that Fasetwo has actually worked in the year under review. I have done so much. Even some of the songs nominated in the awards and some of the artistes nominated for Artiste of the Year, I produced those songs, most of them in the same category and aside that I organized a show in Kumasi,” he stated.
“Even if we should put the voting aspect aside, I have worked,” he added.
The Chianabu, as he is affectionately referred to, beat competition from then reigning Artiste of the Year Pandy, 2021 Artiste of the Year Nambawan and host of other big acts in the region to pick up the topmost award.
Fasetwo also won the Male Vocalist of the Year as well as the Producer of the Year.
For winning the coveted award, Fasetwo walks home with a cash prize of GH¢20,999 and will be sponsored by the headline sponsor Happy Man Bitters to hold a concert. He will also be supplied with products of Charger Limited for a year and be permitted to use the brand logo.
