Businessman and Retired Police Chief, COP Patrick Akolgo, says setting up Bluewaves Radio, a new radio station in the Upper East Regional Capital, Bolgatanga is his way of giving back to society.
He believes that the media and the work of journalists go a long way to shape the society and improve lives hence, the move to establish a commercial radio station in Bolgatanga.
Bluewaves Radio, which transmits on the Frequency, 93.7mhz, is the newest addition to the numerous radio stations operating in the region and that of the regional capital. Fitted with state of the art gadgets that reflect a modern radio station, Bluewaves Radio comes on stream with a competitive edge.
The studio setup equally speaks of the art and culture of the people of the Upper East Region and tells the story of the value of local artifacts.
With the hope of being the listener’s Perfect Companion, the station comes on board with great sound quality, readying it, for a smooth takeoff. As the station begins its official programs, it is the hope of the Director, COP Akolgo that the station would serve the best interest of the community.
According to him, by establishing Bluewaves Radio, it is his way of giving back to society in a bid to promote development.

“Somebody said but why are you going into the media? This business that you have, in the media what profit is there and I said I want the facility to be used by the community. They say the media is about education, entertainment and information and I love journalism from the bottom of my heart. It is all about service to mankind.” He explained.
