Former Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Constituency and a founding member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Enoch Teye Mensah is set to publish a book to counter  what he said are inaccuracies and misinformation contained in the controversial ‘Working with Rawlings’ book by  Professor Kwamena Ahwoi.

The book, E. T Mensah disclosed, is a compilation of political materials which were collected for sensitization of the Youth Wing of the party in the various tertiary institutions on the party’s ideologies and the circumstances surrounding the foundation of the party during his tenure as Youth Organizer.

According to him, the book which is  titled ‘Setting the Records Straights’ and segmented into 3 volumes is currently with his publishers and will be launched in due course.

He said ‘Setting the Records Straight’, when published, will expose the inaccuracies and misleading narratives contained in the controversial ‘Working with Rawlings’ book.

“People knew that it wasn’t accurate. It still cannot be accurate. Some of us started with him (Rawlings) before Kwamena Ahwoi came on board. I’ve put together a book. When we were in office, there was something that I used to educate the youth on TEIN platform. I was the National Youth Organizer then and I founded TEIN as a platform to enlighten the young people on campuses because we felt that TEIN should be the intellectual wing of the party. So we collected political materials and used the TEIN platform on all campuses to educate the young people.

So they were well informed and I have put the first book together which will let you know that Jerry Rawlings wasn’t just what the book (by Ahwoi) suggested that he had no plans and what of you. It is with the publishers now and as soon as it is ready, we will launch it.  It is dubbed Setting the Record Straight just like the themes of the series of public lectures we used to hold with intellectuals all over the country as Speakers. So what I have done  is to compile it in volumes. So you Setting the Record Straights Volume 1, 2 and 3. So volume 1 will come out soon,” he stated.

The Working with Rawlings’ book by Professor Kwamena Ahwoi which sought to chronicle the author’s experience under the Rawlings’ regime and his personal relationship with Ghana’s longest-serving leader generated several controversies particularly within the NDC as most of its narrations painted a negative picture about the former president and his regime.

Mr. Rawlings and other leading members of his regime described the book as factual inaccurate and misleading.  In his official response to the book, the late former president did not only dispute many of the narratives contained in the book including the claim that he had no vision for the country as its leader but gave contrary accounts of the events and issues contained in it.

Following his demise, Group Captain Richard Fordjour, who was his closed associate, revealed that the publication of the book left the former president hurt and feeling betrayed.
