The Dreamz Fm and Ayelsong (D&A) Foundation was on Saturday, January 28, 2023, launched. It was launched on the day Major Atia Ayise Ayelsong was laid to rest a year ago.
The D&A Foundation is founded in honor of Major Atia Ayise Ayelsong (Rtd) who died on the 5th of January 2022 at the Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga and was subsequently laid to rest on January 28, 2022. Having served as a police officer till his retirement in the year 2001, the late Major Atia Ayelsong until his demise was a member of the Upper East Branch of the National Retired Police Officers Association.
It has therefore been set up to honour his memory and to fulfill his desires of leaving an indelible mark in the world in the course of one’s life. The D&A Foundation would also execute the Corporate Social Responsibilities of Dreamz Fm.
The Foundation according to one of the illustrious sons of Major Atia and Managing Director of Bolgatanga Based Dreamz Fm, Daniel Atia Aboteneriba has four thematic areas. These areas include health, which saw the foundation make its first donation of 5000 cedis worth of surgical gloves to the Bongo District Hospital.
The Foundation will equally pay attention to education which will see the Foundation and its board of trustees support needy but brilliant persons. The other two areas are human rights and what has been christened as self-help.
For Self-Help, Mr. Abotineriba disclosed that it is an area carved out of his father’s desire to offer help to others. It is therefore the Foundation’s desire to use farming, especially guinea fowl rearing to empower families in Dua-Yikene in the Bongo District which is the pilot area.
This will see the Foundation through Abotineriba farms hatch and vaccinate about 8000 guinea fowls to be distributed to families in the predominantly farming community.
Mr. Abotineriba disclosed this at the launch of the D&A Foundation.
“We are here in memory of the great Major Atia Ayise Ayelsong to launch this foundation and in pursuant of that, we went to the Bongo Hospital to donate 5,000 cedis worth of gloves since health is one of the thematic areas. We will be looking at issues pertaining to education, and human rights.
The last thematic area is self-help and this is based on ideals that our father always held, that we should not look at ourselves only. Look at how you can reach out to people who do not have just like you have. In doing that we have established a farm known as Aboteneriba farms to go into collaborate to hatch about 8,000 guinea fowls, vaccinate them and distribute them to families in Dua-Yikene. So, we hope that by the end of the year, we would have hatched about 8,000 guinea fowls by the end of the year,”
Gracing the occasion, the Municipal Chief Executive for Bolgatanga, Rex Asanga commended the management of Dreamz Fm for the station’s contributions to development in the municipality.
For him, it is exciting to hear that the D&A Foundation will go a long way to help vulnerable persons since the assembly and government are not in a position to solve all societal problems.
