Peter Ayamga Ayinbisa, the Upper East Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says appointments for positions in the John Mahama administration may likely throw the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) into a turmoil.

Already, he said there is growing dissatisfaction within the ranks and file as many jostle to catch the President’s eye for appointment.

He claimed there are strong indications that some of the bigwigs like the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East Constituency Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, who  he said are most qualified, are likely to be left out of the government and that, for him, will be the breaking point for the party.

“I’m telling you that, already, there is fire on the mountain. My friend, Akuritinga Ayine is a learned lawyer, very astute, somebody who is very strong and can handle the Attorney-General but they will deny him.”

He continued, “Nobody in this  country is more qualified than him. But they will not give it to. If they give it to him, I will be very happy but he is not likely to get it. That’s  why some are shifting him and Ayariga to go for the Majority Leader”.

Following his swearing-in as the sixth President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, John Mahama now faces the task of assembling a team, who will be dedicated and committed to assisting him to deliver on his promises to the Ghanaian people ahead of the 2024 election.

He had pledged to remove a number of taxes imposed by the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration, which he described as draconian, and take steps to recover state resources he claimed were looted, all within his first 120 days in office.

He has since made his first set appointments to his office.

But this maiden appointments, Ayinbisa said, is an indication that Mahama will run a large-sized government, contrary to his pledge to run a slim one.
