Media personality, Gloria Akpene Nyarku-Acquah popularly known as MzGee has named her former colleague and entertainment journalist with Accra-based Hitz FM and JoyNews TV, Doreen Avio as a member of a group of female journalists who ganged up against her leading to her resignation from Multimedia Group Limited (MGL).
MzGee left MGL in November 2019 citing envy and bitterness of her colleague workers at Multimedia towards her as one of the reasons for her decision to part ways with the media company.
Throwing more light on the circumstances that led to her resignation in an interview on The Delay Show, MzGee stated that her colleague female journalists at Multimedia could not stand the fact that she was flourishing at a faster pace than them even though she had come to meet them there.
She said they felt she was being given an undue advantage to overshadow them and thus, became bitter and envious of her. They then formed a cabal against her, making her stay at the media entity uncomfortable hence, her decision to resign.
“When you meet people on the job and they are flourishing than you think you are, it is good when you sing their praises as well so that God will also open doors for you. Because they felt I was a newbie at Multimedia, they felt I was given an undue advantage even though I had come to meet them so they wouldn’t allow me to flourish more than them. It was a cabal. It wasn’t just one person”.
She mentioned Doreen Avio as one of them but failed to name the rest of the members of the alleged cabal.
Doreen Avio, she revealed, has since apologized to her and she (MzGee) is appreciative of her action.
“The beauty about it is that after a while we all had reflections, I think Doreen Avio has reflected and has come to apologize. She wasn’t the only one (who had issues with me because I was flourishing). They were many but she has had reflections and I appreciate that about her. She reflected and she came with Kwame B who is a friend to us both to say openly that she is sorry if she had done something in the past (that hurt me),” she stated.
