The Talensi Constituency Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Michael Nangena has urged members, who are disappointed their favourite candidates have not been named to be part of the John Mahama government , to remain calm.

He said that though such persons, who have distinguished themselves and are deserving of appointments, have not been given positions in the government now, they could be called upon in the future to equally important play roles.

“Issues of governance are like a moving trail. As it moves. Others drop, others are joined, etc.”

He added, “We are all resources available to him (the President). He looks into the pool. And then if he realizes that, you can best perform this task to help him achieve his vision, for Ghana, I think so be it”.

Michael Nangena was reacting to growing displeasure among some members of the party especially in the Upper East Region over the President’s non-inclusion of Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Isaac Adongo in his government.

Many in the NDC in the region had tipped Isaac Adongo to be appointed a substantive minister.

However, they have been left disappointed after the President unveiled the full list of substantive ministerial nominees without the name of Isaac Adongo.

While suggesting that all is not lost for Isaac Adongo, Nangena asked those rooting for the MP’s appointment not to be disappointed as the President may be considering him for a role in the future.

“There are so many ways that all of us will be called upon to support the system.

So if the Honorable Adongo is not in the list now, it doesn’t mean that he’s totally forgotten. There will be a time, which I cannot state now, that he will be called upon.”

He contended that even though Adongo and many others in the party are highly qualified for significant positions in the government, the President considered many factors including regional balance in his appointments and that, he suggested, may be the reason some highly qualified persons are left out.

“There are a whole lot of equation balancing that has to be done there. One of the things I to also figure out is that people believe in the capacity of Honorable Adongo.”

He admonished NDC members not to fall for what he believes is an attempt by the New Patriotic Party to create disaffection towards the President and his administration.

“So we want to appeal to our members, you know, to remain calm, and then to also avoid the temptation of  the ill-fated agenda of the NPP that is being pushed out there just to make it look like others are more qualified and they needed to be there.”
