The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) parliamentary candidate for Bongo Diana Aburiya has expressed confidence of winning the seat for her party for the first time in the history of the constituency.

The leading opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has dominated the constituency since 1992, winning in both parliamentary and presidential elections.

In 2012, Diana Aburiya made her maiden attempt at helping her party taste victory for the first time but failed.

She has staged a comeback ahead of this year’s elections and is confident of snatching the seat.

The politician believes her connections with the people and her dedication to serving them as well as the policies she is proposing make her the right candidate.

Diana Aburiya particularly pledged to tackle unemployment and lack of social amenities.

Aside from her transformational policy ideas, she believes her position on the ballot paper is a sign of victory.

“It means victory to me because I remember in 2012 when I contested, I didn’t pick number one. I picked a different number. But during the parliamentary primaries this last year, I picked number one. And when I picked number one, I became victorious,” she stated.

“So then number one to me signifies victory. And I believe that is going to repeat itself. The victory that the number one gave me during my parliamentary primaries is the same victory this number one is going to give me”.
