Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe has subtly taken a swipe at the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu over Mr. Amidu’s public complaints about the alleged refusal of state officials to cooperate with his office in the execution of his mandate.

Franklin Cudjoe’s criticism of Mr. Amidu and the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) comes after a report of investigation of conflict of interest allegations against now former CEO of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) led to his dismissal from office.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo referred allegations of conflict of interest to CHRAJ and those involving acts of corruption to the Office Special Prosecutor (OSP) for probe after an investigative documentary by investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni revealed that a company co-owned by Mr. Adjenim Boateng was selling contracts it had been winning through restrictive tendering and sole-sourcing processes by the PPA which he was heading to others for profit.

CHRAJ has completed its investigations and submitted a report to the presidency which recommended the dismissal of Mr. Adjenim Boateng from office while declaring him not qualified to hold any public office for the next five years after it found him guilty of conflict of interest and abuse of office. The presidency has since dismissed Mr. Adjenim Boateng.

However, Mr. Amidu-led OSP is yet to complete its investigation.

While commending Mr. Whittal and CHRAJ for what termed as diligent and professional execution of its mandate, Mr. Franklin Cudjoe criticized Mr. Amidu of failing to successfully investigate and prosecute individuals referred to his office over alleged cases of corruption.

Mr. Cudjoe intimated that the Special Prosecutor instead of executing his mandate in the fight against corruption has resorted to writing what he described as long tales in the media to lay complaints.

“CHRAJ Commissioner, Whittal. Diligent and professional. Getting results without writing long tales in the media complaining about his pens,” he stated on post on social media.

Mr. Amidu has complained publicly about the under-resourced nature of his office and the failure of government appointees to collaborate with his outfit in the execution of his mandate.

He expressed his disappointment at the refusal of public officials to make available documents which are critical in the investigation of alleged acts of corruption stating that such acts by public office holders particularly government appointees have hampered the work of his office.

Mr. Amidu recently took on the Finance Ministry particularly the Deputy Finance Minister for failing to produce documents that he requested for the corruption risk assessment into the Agyapa Royalties Agreement claiming that the failure of Mr. Charles Adu Boahen to release the documents he requested has led to delays in the corruption risk assessment his office is undertaking into the controversial deal.
