The Paramount Chief of Kumbungu Traditional Area Naba Abu Iddrisu has, on behalf of the people of the area, supported  Chef Faila Abdul-Razak’s attempt to break a Guinness World Record with food items and a cash amount of 5,000.

The items said to have been donated to Faila and her team by elders of the Kumbungu Chief Palace included fried frogs, 2 bags of rice and some tubers of yams.

Frog meat is an important delicacy among the people of Kumbungu in the Northern Region reason for its inclusion in the donation.

Chef Faila is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual known as Cook-a-thon.

The current record, which stands at 119 hours, was achieved by an Irish chef Alan Fisher although others including a Ugandan chef and a Nigerian have done 144 hours and 200 hours respectively but are yet to be validated by the British organisation.

Faila commenced her attempt on January 1, 2024 and was supposed to end on January 5 at 120 hours. She has, however, extended the period of her marathon and is now scheduled to end tomorrow, January 10 at 10am.
