Passionate about the construction industry, the Chief Executive Officer of Blue Sky Hotel, Commissioner of Police (rtd) Patrick Akolgo, has called for support for technical oriented institutions in the country.
COP Akolgo, who runs a construction company, believes Technical and Vocational Education and Training are the way to go to create sustainable jobs and development.
He said technical and vocational skills are essential for entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic growth since such skills can propel economic growth.
COP Akolgo was speaking as a special guest at the 25th anniversary of the Bolgatanga Technical University, which was held Friday, March 14, 2025, under the theme: “25 years of sustainable TVET Development: Journeying to Technological Advancement.”
While calling for support for technical-oriented institutions in the country, he urged individuals, who have acquired such skills to put their skills into practice and not leave them to waste away.
He called for the acknowledgment of the critical role TVET plays in driving sustainable development.
“TVET institutions like the Bolgatanga Technical University are at the forefront of providing students with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in an increasingly complex and technology driven world. As we look to the future, it is clear that technology would continue to play a critical role in shaping the global economy.
To remain relevant, businesses must be willing to adapt, innovate and invest in new technologies and as we celebrate the technical University’s 25th anniversary let us recognize the critical role that TVET plays in driving sustainable development and Let’s all commit to supporting institutions like the Bolgatanga Technical University which are at the forefront of providing students with the skills and knowledge to succeed.” He urged.
