Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited on Monday, December 23, 2024, handed over a 4-kilometer road to the Talensi District Assembly.
After spending over 700,000 dollars which amounts to 10,287,228 cedis, Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited had Engineers and Planners construct a standard road that now links Tongo to the main access road known as China-Zero road.
This comes months after Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited completed a 25-kilometer access road to the mining site which adds up to the road infrastructure in the district and improves access for many in the area.
The project came as a social intervention following the commencement of the main access road hence the decision of Cardinal Namdini and Engineers and Planners to take it up and ensure the construction of the road.
Speaking during the brief handing over, Emmanuel Kofi Adusei, Community and Social Responsibility Manager of Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited noted that he is impressed with the quality of work done.
He added that the work done serve as an exemplary of quality work to other contractors who will be executing similar future projects in the area as he calls for community collaboration to ensure many other community initiatives can be embarked on to help in the development of the area.
“Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited would like to thank E and P for the good work that they have done for us. It is a testament to all contractors in this area to see good construction practices and we are grateful because of the work they have put in, we know that it’s going to last for a long. If you look at this road that E and P have supported in reshaping, Cardinal Namdini, already, we have already added 25 kilometers of road to the district. This will be added to improve the road network.” He stressed.
Lawrence Yuonakuu, General Manager, Engineers and Planners, Cardinal Site, Upper East Region, noted that the road formed part of the contract service for Cardinal hence the fixing of box culverts, and reconstruction of the road to make the stretch motorable.
“There was a community social responsibility for Cardinal and then the road between Tongo and the main access road called the China-Zero road, about 4km road was given to us to reshape it, fix it, put some culverts in place, and get it motorable. We are here to hand over the project to Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited as part of the social responsibility project that was given to us.” He stated.
The District Chief Executive for Talensi, Thomas Duanab Wuni, said the project will help to ease the burden of farmers who cart their farm produce to various market centers.
He described the constructed road as a great relief.
