Calls have intensified for Rex Asanga, the 2020 Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party for Bolgatanga Central Constituency to be appointed Municipal Chief Executive.
The social media advocacy dreamzfmonline.com has learnt is aimed at presenting Mr Asanga as the most preferred candidate for the position of MCE for Bolgatanga.
Having been the parliamentary candidate of the ruling party for both the 2016 and 2020 elections, some leading members and party foot soldiers have argued that Mr Asanga has not been duly rewarded and appreciated for his sacrifices and commitment to the party over the years.
Though it was highly expected that he would be given a ministerial appointment after the 2016 elections, the development economist who had worked over the years in the area of human, rural and social development through a non-governmental organisation was only assigned a role in needs assessment for the implementation of government’s Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Program (IPEP).
Under the second administration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the expectations of his appointment have not changed.
Following the release of names of deputy ministerial nominees on Wednesday April 21, 2020, it is emerging that efforts are underway to ensure he does not miss the shot for the MCE position after his name failed to appear in the list of ministerial nominees.
The race for the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive position has been highly competitive with 14 individuals reportedly filing for the post.
